Top 10 Most Annoying Sounds

Updated on June 30, 2014

Plug Your Ears For The Most Annoying Sounds

Our house is situated right above a Turkish Pub and -although I really like music- I can't appreciate it when it's really loud AND in the middle of the night. Then I consider it as a really annoying sound. Thankfully it's not that bad as it used to be, but once in a while there's a big party going on....with live performances (read Karaoke) starting at 4.30. In my opinion that should be the ending time.

Obvious this is my personal situation and maybe you can't imagine what it would be like living above a pub (at first it was a quiet tea-room though). Enough talking about myself. Can I think of a couple more irritating noises? Get ready for my list of most annoying sounds.

Number 10

Children Constantly Nagging

I know, I know.... children will nag once in a while. And maybe even more often than that. But sometimes you'll find yourself really upset by a spoiled little brat. Most of the time that will be in a supermarket or a place where you can buy stuff. Worse is when the parent will say NO and then the child keeps trying, whining, pushing and so on.... just to find out that mammy or daddy will eventually give in. That will do the trick!

Helicopters Keeps Flying Over in the Evening

What's that noise? Is it a plane? Is it a bird? No it's a nice roaring helicopter. Oh that's fun..... it keeps flying over and over. Maybe there's a criminal on the loose? Well no, it's the Royal Airforce practising to fly as low as they can go. Great! If it wasn't eleven in the evening.

Number 8

The Big Bad Dental Drill

Compete silence in the waiting room. Just a couple of people there, pretending to read a magazine. You wished you were outside, shopping or so. Then a shrill sound enters your ears, it seems to last forever. A little child starts to cry and his mother looks at you in agony. Then it's your turn!

A Tickety Tock Clock In Your Bedroom

Tick, tock, tick, tock..... Well, let me turn around. Tick, tock, tick, tock. Maybe the other side? Tick, tock, tick, tock. Should have bought those ear-plugs. Tick, tock, tick, tock. What's the time now?Oh, I really should be sleeping right now. Tick, tock, tick, tock. In a few hours I will have to get out. Tick, tock, tick, tock. How can he sleep? Tick, tock, tick, tock. Great! Now he's snoring as well. Tick, tock, tick, tock. Maybe if I went to the bathroom I can sleep afterwards? Tick, tock, tick, tock. Now my feet are cold. Tick, tock, tick, tock. What time is it now? Tick, tock, tick, tock..............

With those clocks you certainly can't fall a sleep

The Alarm Clock Alarming You To Get OUT!

Good morning Sunshine! Can't you feel this brand new day?!

Don't you think it's really funny that when you have to get out for work, you just can't. You want to push the snooze button again and again? But then when it's your day off, you wake up very early and love to get out of bed? Or maybe that's just me :)

I just want to stay in bed.

Number 4

A Hand-Drill On Sunday

There are so many days in a week. Then why does it seem all my neighbours have to do their chores on Sunday? I just want a Sunday to be piece full and relaxed. The sound of a hand-drill doesn't meet that requirements.

Lend them a hand.

A Handyman At Night (all night)

*Handyman...... the handyman can.* Yes he can, but why can't he start a little earlier? And I'm not talking about one little screw, no I'm talking about working from just after dinner till midnight. Even though the "handyman" was home all day long. He just had to start that late. Looks like they are doing that just to annoy their neighbours.

If you can't beat them, join them.

Number 2

A Car Alarm That Doesn't Seem To Alarm Anyone

Wiew, wiew, wiew, wiew, wiew, wiew x 1000000000000. Every time it "wiews"... you will think "Well, it must stop in a minute. The person beloning to the car will soon step out and turn off the car alarm."

Then it "wiews" for another 15 minutes and you'll see someone going outside. You follow that person with your eyes, just to find out another car is belonging to that person. The "wiewing" goes on and then suddenly stops.

You are the most happiest man/woman living on this planet...... for 5 minutes as the car alarm then is triggered again.

The One And Only Number 1

MOoeeehwwwiiee - Cat in Heat

I was wondering... what sound should really be on top of the list? Well, my own little cat (one of 5) gave me the answer. She's in heat right now and making sounds you just can't imagine! Thankfully she's an indoor cat, so the only people bothering her, is us.

But what if.... you are fast a sleep and the neighbour-cat is organising a Cat Heatwave at your garden. That most be, without any doubt, be the most annoying sound of the world.

And just in case you've never heard that sound..... I recorded a small movie of my own cat for my readers to see, hear and enjoy.
